I came across this "review" concerning Owners Direct on Trust Pilot and thought that I would share it here as it seems to sum up a lot of the feelings toward Expedia, Homeaway, VRBO, Stayz, etc.

I feel very sorry for the gentleman, but I do love the turns of phrase:

"What they have done is buy a beautiful butterfly and now they’re busy pulling the wings off it"

The OD reply is of course the usual line. Guests want this, Guests want that. We seen the stats, its the questions that needed rephrasing.

Sure they want to book-online (enter their details receive confirmation). 50% of Europeans use wire transfer and products like "Transferwise". You still need to enter card details for the service though! Not a good booking model is it?

90% of our bookings are still a dialogue and hours of work twixt booking and leaving. The balance of income is so out of kilter with the responsibility, its disrespectful.

Just this morning after switching on bookings ( the reason is here: http://bit.ly/2bC0TJM) we have just had two calls asking what the service fee was for!
