If you are in business as property owner, agent or manager, chances are you are also in this industry as a guest. I dare to say that most of us are in business for passion first rather than necessity.

Hey Antonio, great article thanks for posting!

This is so obvious, yet I've never thought of it!

Place the name of your Business Front and Center: in your listing’s headline, in your property’s description, in your photo captions.

Great idea, especially with the "Billboard Effect", that says 25% of direct hotel bookings come from seeing the property on OTA's and searching Google directly. Although, not sure how much this works for Millennials!

The Billboard effect is quite enticing - we have enquirers offering to meet us at the property in order to secure a better price!

Good advice, needs to find its way to national press!

Apparently the Billboard effect is not as popular as it used to be, probably due to phone use diluting the stats, but still works. Searching direct gives lots of advantages to the visitor: No guest service fees, questions answered with parts of the response being removed (e.g url's) and more importantly, you can get an idea of what your hosts may be like.

I noticed some sites, remove the names these days. I wonder if this is reducing the time people stay on a site? Who wants to book a romantic break in Casa 187665a?

Add it to your descriptions too and maybe an image with your holiday home with the name plaque outside.

ITS NOT SAFE, BOOK ONLINE ON AN OTA: WE COVER YOU FOR A NON-EXISTENT PROPERTY, is one rebuttal from the OTA's (why is it being advertised is the first question). So accept credit cards, offer this payment method to the guests and they are covered immediately by use of a card! Its that simple.

Good point. Which sites are doing that, if I can ask? I think they'll get there too sooner or later, in an attempt to totally hinder direct communication, but it looks like it's not going to happen tomorrow.

Sometimes I think I post such obvious things that readers may go "yeah, right!". Yet I'm glad to see how what may seem obvious to some is often not as obvious to others.

I don't know how this will work with Millennials (and somehow I hope as they grow, they'll become less 'point and click' and more interested in delving deeper into what they choose), however I know this works very well with all our guests, Millennials and Non-millennials.

The obvious is not always what is seen immediately - so keep telling us the obvious!
