Here’s a great guide to understanding your target demographic and how to appeal to them: http://blog.pillowhomes.com/from-baby-boomers-to-millennials-how-to-attract-guests-to-your-vacation-rental Choose your target market and design your online listing, property, and overall experience to cater to it. There is little sense trying to attract both baby boomers and millennials – they are looking for very different experiences. The millennial market is crucial to vacation rentals. 74% of adult millennials have used vacation rentals when travelling for work. They also live in a world where the digital and real world combine. They have so much information at their fingertips and expect everything to be done fast. Owners must reply quickly to messages, sort out problems ASAP, and deliver the service as advertised. Even more important than this, they don’t like bells and whistles – they want down to Earth, authentic experiences that speak to who they are, and not some fancy villa in a glossy magazine. Owners need to focus on the experience. This means a big TV, fancy décor and expensive finishings take second place to the location and the cultural activities in the surrounding area. Your target market could also be decided by the location of your vacation rental as well.
